2001 – Jason Tomczyk’s brother Troy took over the team and became its new owner. Troy relocated the team to Menomonee Falls where they went 3-4 and qualified for the playoffs due to a tie breaker. The Crusaders surprised everybody by beating the Waukesha Devils in the first round and almost beating the Milwaukee Bulldogs in the Conference Championship game. The 3-4 Crusaders were only 10 points away from going to the Ironbowl.

2000 – After a lot of consideration, Chris Chudada stepped down from being the team owner to concentrate more on the league itself. Chudada stated that it was virtually impossible to run both. Chudada sold the team to Jason Tomczyk. Tomczyk kept the team in Pewaukee but changed the team colors and name as he wanted to start over with a fresh look. A lot of debate went into deciding the colors and name. The colors were eventually voted on with Navy Blue & Gold being the victor; Orange & Blue came in a close second. The name “Crusaders” was suggested by Chudada because of his deep love for history. That year was a rebuilding year and the newly formed Crusaders went a dismal 3-5.
